Birthday celebrations down South...............

And........................ our young man turns 20!  I didn't mention this in my post about 'August' yesterday because I wanted it to enjoy its moment.  A most important reason why August is so special is that it's Sam's birthday month and we were privileged to spend it with him today.  We kick started things by waiting up until just after midnight to sing to him before we all retired to bed.

Now he does not like fuss at all, but little brother Aaron woke up early to cook him some french toast and the smell wafted into our room teasing us so we joined in with the early morning festivities and indulged a little, well I ate mine and then pinched a little of Ayo's when he was momentarily distracted!  Birthday messages from Grandma and Aunty Sade were warmly received by Sam.

We worked it off in the pool with a good session of fun in the sun; ball games and races, it really was just lovely.  Feeling refreshed Sam suggested a leisurely walk after which we all admitted it was perhaps a little ambitious.  We simply could not compete against the blazing heat, but we loved the companionship and fellowship the walks gave us.

I mentioned earlier that Sam does not like fuss and together with Aaron insisted on being the chef (yes, even on his birthday) and co-chef.  Don't ever under estimate the benefits of team work because together they served up a meal to be proud of and repeated sometime soon!  Totally calorific sundaes finished the meal and I have to say no one moved from the table for a while............... we were unable to move if you get my drift.

Today (day 226) I am thankful to be able to wish a very happy birthday to a most special young man.
